Standing between night and day, Keeper of the Morning captures the quiet authority of a familiar figure made ceremonial. This rooster is rendered with layered texture and intentional colour, balancing confidence with a subtle sense of watchfulness. More than a portrait of an animal, the piece speaks to ritual, resilience, and the steady act of showing up-again and again-  fully present and unapologetically oneself.

This piece is one of the first creations painted using oils; I was pleasantly impressed with its ability to blend and add depth. I decided to leave the rough elements of the paint to giving it more of a rustic and original feel. I imagine this painting in someone's kitchen adding a homey feel and a punch of colour and joy to the space.
