This painting is about the moments we take when no one is watching. She is faceless so she can be anyone or everyone; a woman who has ever claimed a moment of time for herself without explanation or permission.
The vivid blue of her dress grounds her in the present, while the softened landscape dissolves the sense of urgency around her. The picnic is simple, yet plentiful. A quiet ritual of nourishment and presence.
Painted expressionistically, this work honors the private pauses that rarely make it into memory but shape us nonetheless. It is a reminder that rest does not require an audience, and some of the most meaningful moments happen unseen.
I debated about painting a face, but her faceless resonance spoke to me in ways no expression could.
