Painted from a bug's point of view, Where the Light finds us looks upward toward the sky, toward the sunlight. I wanted the perspective to feel small, vulnerable, and honest, the way it often feels to reach for something bigger than yourself. This piece was a follow-up to a commissioned piece of wild flowers that offered the same perspective and sentiment.

In this piece, each tulip shares the same colour, the same desire, yet one stands apart. Faded and wilting, it is still beautiful, still reaching, even as it is slowly suffocated by the others which are ignorant to its plight. For me, this piece represents how deeply human it is to hunger for something more; growth, love, recognition- even when that reaching comes at a cost to someone else.

This painting is about longing and imbalance, about the quiet consequences hidden beneath beauty. It asks us to consider what we take without considering who is left in the shadow when everyone is reaching upward at once.

Rooted in transformation and symbolism, this work carries the magic of perspective- revealing that even what bends, fades, or struggles is worthy of light. The tulips represent all of us.
